How do you play Mines?
- Choose your mines. Hide 1 to 24 mines on the 5×5 grid. More mines mean higher risk and a bigger multiplier per reveal.
- Place your bet. The game starts on-chain: your stake is debited and the board is committed and frozen.
- Reveal tiles. Each safe tile you uncover grows your cash-out multiplier.
- Cash out any time (after at least one revealed tile) to lock in your stake times the current multiplier. Revealing every safe tile is a full clear, the maximum multiplier for that mine count.
- Avoid the mines. Hit one and you lose your bet; the game settles on-chain as a loss.
How is a Mines payout calculated?
Each step pays the true survival odds with the house edge applied once:M is the mine count and k the number of safe tiles revealed. Each factor is the inverse of the chance that reveal number i+1 is safe, so the multiplier exactly mirrors how unlikely your run is. (On-chain the product is accumulated exactly in integer math with one final floor division.)
Worked examples at the current 1.5% house edge (see Fees & limits for the canonical live value):
The return-to-player is 98.5% at the current 1.5% house edge for every combination of mine count and reveals. Longer odds pay bigger multipliers, but the expected value never changes.
Fairness
Two independent inputs fix the board before you click:- a server-seed commitment stored on-chain at game start, so the board cannot be altered mid-game to chase your clicks;
- a Solana slot hash captured when the start transaction lands: public network entropy the operator cannot predict while building the transaction, so seeds cannot be pre-mined against you.
Limits
- Bets are bounded by the table minimum and maximum.
- Profit on a single game is capped at the table maximum. If a win would exceed the cap, you are paid the cap. A capped win is still a win, and you always keep your stake.
